When I started studying James, I skipped right past the
greeting. When I backed up a few days later, I realized I had missed the “tone
of voice” for the passage. "James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ." James is setting the tone and background, and
servanthood is the key! Every single day we are faced with opportunities to
choose whether we serve others or serve ourselves. Here in America we hear and
see so much that tells us we are entitled, we deserve more. It creeps into our
mindset, unless we stay in the word and keep our eyes on our servant King! Can we do this exercise? Insert our names into the phrase - " Janice, a servant of God and the Lord Jesus Christ..." and then move and speak.
